Had Too Much To Drink?
For almost a century people have called on AAA's guardians of the roadways when stranded. This holiday season AAA Mid-Atlantic's Maryland emergency road services crew will take on an additional job: offering free towing to motorists who have had too much holiday cheer.
Beginning December 1 through New Year's Day, AAA's Operation Tipsy Tow will carry drivers and their operating vehicles home up to 15 miles free of charge. (The fee after 15 miles will be AAA's standard member rate of $2.50 per mile.) Many motorists fear asking for assistance when they've had too much to drink because they don't like the idea of leaving their vehicles behind. Operation Tipsy Tow will eliminate that fear.
AAA Mid-Atlantic joins a number of AAA clubs throughout the nation offering this free towing service. AAA Texas kept 84 impaired motorists off the roadway through this program last year. While many AAA towing operators have offered free towing independently previously, this is the first united effort to use a universal telephone number that will provide services throughout Maryland.
The service can be accessed by calling 1-800-AAA-HELP.
