Congressional Accountability, Part 17

By: Robert Jay

To abbreviate and summarize previous letters, unless Congress acts on a whole host of urgent legislation we will only be a pale image of our forefathers spirit. Talk to your Congressman before the election and vote for the one that carries the banner for and commits to:

  1. A bonafide Campaign Finance Reform that removes the appearance or temptation of BRIBERY!
  2. A Term Limits Amendment to the Constitution! As Thomas Jefferson, one of the two Renaissance men that helped create our Republic, stated in his December 20, 1787 letter to James Madison critiquing the Constitution, "...I strongly dislike...the abandonment of rotation in office..." Toleration of the incumbency virus eats away at the soul of the people's government.
  3. A Balanced Budget Constitutional Amendment with teeth! Protect the rights of the unborn from our wayward transgressions.
  4. A Presidential Line Item Veto Constitutional Amendment! That would immunize it against the Supreme Court.
  5. Developing a plan to eliminate the carbuncle of a $5+ trillion national debt.

That should keep your Congressman sufficiently busy, making him worth about $68,000 of his $136,000 yearly salary,

Sincerely,
Robert Jay, aka gadfly@mail.iswest.com
