Liquor Board Announces New Policies On Minors, Complaints And Inspections

In letters to community associations and liquor license holders, the Board of liquor License Commissioners has set forth new policies for complaints and inspections. Please note that there is now a 24 hour complaint number.

Dear Community Leader:
The Board is pleased to announce the implementation of a new procedure for complaints to the Liquor Board. Effective October 6,1997, all complaints to the Liquor Board may be called into a new complaint line number (410) 545-6360. This telephone line will be available to you even during hours when Liquor Board Office is not open for business. Inspectors will be assigned to monitor and to respond to complaints received on this number even at hours other then normal business hours.

Please note, however, that matters which must be handled by Baltimore City Police department will still be referred to the Police Department for their action. Specifically, complaints concerning illegal activities such as narcotics, gambling, prostitution, etc. will still remain matters which this Board will forward to the Baltimore City Police Department for their action. Inspectors will, however, be available to respond concerning complaints such as loud music, noise at closing and other activities which may disturb the community.

Also enclosed in this mailing is a letter which is being delivered to all licensees. This letter discusses areas of concern which the Board has identified during their initial months in office. This letter has been translated into Korean language and is being provided to licensees also.
