Early Merchant's House - 1732 Thames Street
In rare original condition, this large house (c. 1800) offers visitors
"the single finest historic waterfront property in Baltimore." The late
federal-style structure is constructed of pink brick set in Flemish bond
and has a well-molded brick cornice. Typical of town houses of the rich,
this house stands 3 1/2 stories tall (with a dormer) and has stone
lintels over the windows. Merchants often had a shop at street level and
lived upstairs. The house belongs to the Preservation Society and
provides a waterside portal to its complex of buildings on Ann Street.
