This 18th century tavern retains its colonial silhouette with hip roof,
dormer windows, and wooden cornice. In the early 1900s, it became a
sweatshop where four Russian families lived and sewed clothing long hours
each day. Many immigrant families earned their living in similar Fells
Point and Old Town sweatshops.
