Fell Family Grave Marker -
1607 Shakespeare Street
The male members of the Point's founding family are named on the stone here. The Fells came from England in the 18th century as aggressive land speculators. William Fell saw the Point's potential for ship building, and his son, Edward, laid out the streets. Edward died young and left his property to his widow, Ann Bond Fell, who sold the lots profitably, thus becoming one of Baltimore's first successful business women.
