Brown's Wharf, Waterside -
Northwest Corner, Broadway & Thames Streets
Built in 1820-1822 and enlarged in 1868, this warehouse was used for
storing flour for export to Europe, and importing coffee from South
America. In 1840 George Brown, son of Irish immigrant Alexander Brown,
bought the property. The wharf became a basis for the financial empire
of Alex Brown and Sons, which is still headquartered in Baltimore.
Constellation Real Estate has rehabilitated the wharf for retail shops
and offices.
