City Recreation Pier -
Waterside, 1700 Block Thames Street
Built in 1914 as a commercial pier, the building also has recreation
facilities, including a ballroom that served for decades as a meeting
place for young people from the Point's many ethnic groups. In recent
years, it has received national exposure as the headquarters for film
maker Barry Levinson's network television series, Homicide: Life on the
Street. Other films by Levinson, a native Baltimorean, that have strong
Fells Point connections include Avalon, Diner and Tin
Men.
