     Saturday (8/28)

Ed Amrhein and I started to paint the trolley boards in preparation for reinstalling them on the roof of 264.

Corner Sheilds Ed then fabricated the four corner shields to replace the ones removed during the roof replacement on 264. These shields were made of two pieces of copper and were to prevent water from leaking into the ends of the car where the clearstory roof joins the hip roof. Over the years the soldered joint had failed and allowed water to enter into the car. The new shields are constructed with an overlap and should be less likely to fail and let water leak into the car.

Meanwhile Buster Hughes and I replaced the three lighting wires that went through the hip roof to the clearstory roof.

Justin Thilman cut the grass around the Visitor's center and car house, until the mover broke. It took Ed and Rick Obbink little time to remove the broken part, but with no spare on hand, it will have to be ordered.

I replaced the brake stand on 6119 with the spare one an got the bake system back in working order, only to have Justin Thilman show me that one of the brake shoes had broken on the rear truck. By now it was too late to get the car on the pit, so 6119 stayed out of service for another week.

Carl Merson was Dispatcher with Ray Cannon, Dennis Falter and Ben M Bates as crew. Carl and Ray also hosted a charter.

     Sunday (8/29)

Ray Cannon was Dispatcher with Chris Howell, Ed Amrhein, Kevin Mueller and Carl Merson as crew. Ed and Carl came early to help Ray with a morning charter.
