Track Updates for January 27, 2002

John LaCosta    S aturday (1/19)

The track crew was out cleaning the seemingly endless brush and trees along the right of way behind the 22nd street shop and in front of the shop. The crew included Ed Amrhein, Josh Lepman, Chris McNally, Chris Howell, Bill, Sam and Daniel.

Rick Obbink and Gary Fairbank continued to work in the shop.

I spent the morning cleaning and lubricating the controllers on 264 and 1050. During the afternoon, Ed Amrhein and Chris Howell joined me in fixing a loose packing cup on 6119's controller. This should put this car back in service.

Buster was working on replacing a handrail on 1050 and making the real steps for 4533.

Sunday (1/20)car4533 in snow

A light coating of snow was on the ground and a large crew turned out to remove it from the walkways around the Visitor's Center.

6119 did not work at first, but after a little work to get it moving, it was OK for the day.

Rick, Gary and I spent the afternoon working on a new group of machines that were added to the 22nd street shop. CJ was working on castings for 1050.

Fred Schneider was Dispatcher with Don Homberg, Eric Smith, Drew Paren and Ed Amrhein as crew.

Wednesday (1/23)

Ben Bates (the elder) was Dispatcher with Charlie Plantholt, Jim Robertson and Mike Citro as Crew for a charter.

Saturday (1/26)

Ed Amrhein and Chris Howell worked on replacing a bad blower motor in the Visitor's Center heating system. This looks like it will be a task that will go through next weekend.

Ed Amrhein was Dispatcher with Chris Howell and Eric Smith as crew for a charter.

Sunday 1/27)

John O'Neil was Dispatcher with Eric Smith, Chris McNally, Carl Merson and Paul Ritterhoff as crew.
