Track Update for July - September, 2004

     Ed Amrhein was Dispatcher with Carl Merson and Dennis Falter as crew.

Sunday (7/4)

     Ben Bates was Dispatcher with Carl Thistel, Joyce Boblitz and Mark Dawson as crew.

Wednesday (7/7)

     Ray Canon was Dispatcher for a daytime charter with Mike Citro and Dennis Falter as crew.

Saturday (7/10)

     The track crew was out working on track 2 around 22nd street. The crew included Josh Lepman, Dan McCaffery, Ed Amrhein, Mark Dawson, Chuck Schafer, Sam, Biff and Daniel Sheer.

     Charlie Plantholt cut the grass at the Visitor's center.

     Carl Merson continued working on the trackless trolley.

     The shop was busy getting new equipment installed. The crew included Rick Obbink, Scott Rockwell, Joyce Boblitz and CJ.

     Mark Hurley was Dispatcher with Dan McCaffery, Dennis Falter and Ben Bates as crew.

Sunday (7/11) Track crew

     Dave Crow was Dispatcher with Dom Homberg and Joyce Boblitz as crew.

Saturday (7/17)

     Chris Howell was Dispatcher with Fred Schneider, Dennis Falter and Joyce Boblitz as crew.

Sunday (7/18)

     The track gang spiked another 100 feet of track at 22nd street.

     Dave Baynes was Dispatcher with Dan Lawrence, Mike Citro an Sharon Higgins as crew.

Wednesday (7/21)

     Ben Bates the elder was Dispatcher with Dennis Falter, Mike Citro and Charlie Plantholt as crew for a daytime charter.

Saturday (7/24)

     The track gang spiked another 100 feet of track in the morning before revenue service.

     Dan Lawrence was Dispatcher with Dennis Falter, Joe Naujokas, Dan MaCaffery and Jim Robertson as crew.

     After the museum closed for the day, the annual crab feast was held. This has become a very popular event and also helps raise funds for the museum. Thanks to Chris McNally for setting this up each year.

Sunday (7/25) Stacking Track

     John La Costa was Dispatcher with Cath La Costa, Dan McCaffery and John Engleman as crew.

Saturday (7/31)

     In preparation for repair work that the city will be doing at Glen Edwards Avenue, the track crew pulled rail from the second track out of the way of the area to be excavated. The crew included Josh Lepman, Jim Robertson and Dan McCaffery.

     Carl Merson was Dispatcher with Dan McCaffery and Fred Schneider as crew.

Sunday (8/1)

     With the donated 900 feet of track disassembled and stacked for shipment, we loaded the first two of four loads to go to the museum. The first load was all of the items that had been placed on pallets, and it filled the 39 foot long tractor trailer. The second load was 44 pieces of rail. The crew loading at the site was Ed Amrhein, Rick Obbink, Dan McCaffery, JC and John La Costa.

     Dave Naujokas was Dispatcher with Chris McNally, Joe Naujokas and Andy Blumberg as crew.

Saturday (8/7)

     The track gang was back at work on track two pulling bad ties that would be replaced with the new ties from the donated track. The crew was Josh Lepman, Dennis Falter, Ed Amrhein and John La Costa

     During the afternoon I worked on lubrication of 1164 and 554 controllers.

     Mark Hurley spent most of the day cleaning the Visitor's Center closet.

     Scott Rockwell, Rick Obbink and JC worked on a new trolley wheel for 554.

     Dan Lawrence was Dispatcher with Dan McCaffery, Joyce Boblitz and Dennis Falter as crew.

Sunday (8/8)

     Dave Crow was Dispatcher with Dom Homberg and Joyce Boblitz as crew.

Wednesday (8/11)

     Ben Bates the elder was Dispatcher with Mike Citro and Charile Plantholt as crew for a daytime charter.

Saturday (8/14)

     Mark Hurley was Dispatcher with Dave Naujokas, Joyce Boblitz and Dennis Falter as crew.

Sunday (8/15)

     The last load of rail was moved from AAI to the Museum. 900 feet of track, including third rail, ties and bolts donated and moved in just over 2 months. The crew today was Josh Lepman, Rick Obbink, Mark Dawson, Scott Rockwell, CJ, Bill and John La Costa.

     Bob Krueger was Dispatcher with Bernie Sachs, Carl Thistel, Dave Crow, Chris McNally and Joyce Boblitz as crew.

Saturday (8/21)

     Chris Howell was Dispatcher with Joyce Boblitz, Dennis Falter and John Engleman as crew.

Sunday (8/22)

     Ben Bates was Dispatcher with Buster Hughes, Mike Citro and Sharon Higgins as crew.

Saturday (8/28) Brake Shoe

     Track 4's roof was the major project of the day with Ed Amrhein, Dan McCaffery, Chris Howell and John La Costa adding more roof to the car house extension.

     Dave Wilson continued working on the roof of 417.

     Scott Rockwell worked on replacement trolley wheel axels. These new axels will make lubrication easier to do and allow less work when making new trolley wheels since the grease fittings will no longer have to be installed in the wheel.

     Charlie Plantholt cut the grass at the Visitor's Center.

     Carl Merson was Dispatcher with Dennis Falter and Paul Ritterhoff as crew.

Sunday (8/29)

     John La Costa was Dispatcher with John O'Neil, Mark Dawson and Dan McCaffery as crew.

Saturday (9/4)

     Josh Lepman and JC worked on track two.

     Dan McCaffery, Chris McNally and John La Costa worked on the roof over track 4.

     Dave Crow was Dispatcher with Buster Hughes, Joe Naujokas and Joyce Boblitz as crew.

Sunday (9/5)

     John O'Neil was Dispatcher with Dan Lawrence and Chris McNally as crew.

Wednesday (9/8)

     Ray Canon was Dispatcher with Jim Robertson, Dennis Falter and Mike Citro as crew for a daytime Charter.

Saturday (9/11)

     Mark Hurley was Dispatcher with Dennis Falter, Dan McCaffery and John Engleman as crew.

     Ed Amrhein was Dispatcher with Greg Thompson and Mel Boteler as crew.

     Dave Baynes was Dispatcher with Bob Krueger and Mark Dawson as crew.

Saturday (9/25)

     Ed Amrhien, Dan McCaffery, Chris McNally and John La Costa worked on installing the brake shoe on the front axel of 7404.

     Chris Howell was Dispatcher with John Engleman, Joyce Boblitz and Dennis Falter as crew.

Sunday (9/26)

     Dave Naujokas was Dispatcher with Joe Naujokas and Dom Homberg as crew.
